Chi takes us sightseeing to the 4 places she visited during her Oxford trip. With stops at local spots and must-see university landmarks (P.S. Hi Harry Potter!), she shows us what she got up to that day.

I recently went on a CAPA-led day trip to Oxford, England, and it was such an amazing experience! Oxford is renowned for its university, which has educated 28 Nobel Prize winners, and is often cited as the best university in the world. Let’s check out where I and other CAPA students visited throughout the trip!

Cultural trip to OXFORD!

1. Oxford’s Adorable Cobblestone Streets

It was raining cats and dogs while we were in Oxford, but I didn’t mind! I recommend going sightseeing and taking pictures when you’re there. The town is really instagrammable, so dress up and bring your favorite umbrella to get ready for some charming pictures!

2. The Covered Market

The historic Covered Market has so many tourist shops and delicious foods. I loved the baguette with eggs, ham, and sausages I had when I was there—it was one of the best baguettes I have ever had in my life! If you ever visit Oxford, stop by Brown’s Cafe in the market, you won’t regret it!

3. New College and Christ Church College, University of Oxford

If you are a Potterhead like I am, Oxford is such a dream place! I couldn’t stop my jaw from dropping due to how gorgeous and how Harry Potter-esque it was (many scenes from Harry Potter were filmed there, and it was so surreal to be there in person). I visited the University of Oxford and New College which is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. The New College Cloisters actually appeared in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!! We happened to be there on graduation day, so we got to see so many students wearing gorgeous gowns!

Christ Church College also provided a location for so many Harry Potter scenes, including the staircase where Professor McGonagall meets Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

4. The Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology

The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is the world's second university museum and Britain's first public museum! If you visit the British Museum and feel like learning about Egyptian mummies, the Ashmolean’s collections also range from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art. The Museum admission is free, and you need to book the ticket in advance. I got to see the Tokyo exhibition, and it was one of the best things I did in Oxford! You need to visit the museum when you come to visit Oxford!
