Andrew and his classmates took a field study trip to witness a unique exhibit in Barcelona! This interactive experience of Salvador Dalí's life and work was brought to life through digital arts and projections such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, holograms, and more.
This was definitely the best field study during my entire study abroad semester in Barcelona. For my art history class, we learned about the life and artwork of Salvador Dalí. We then took a visit to the IDEAL Centre d’Arts Digitals de Barcelona where we got to see his work in an interactive setting. The first room had his artwork projected onto the walls, floors, and ceiling. It was moving and morphing to music. Next, you got to play with a machine that let you color in Dalí sketches and project them onto a man. Finally, the last room was an interactive virtual reality room. They give you a VR set and you can walk around a room and interact with Dalí’s art. It was the highlight of the trip. I couldn’t capture it on video, but it’s definitely something you have to go and see for yourself!
