The QUIP program, also known as the Quality Improvement Program, is an objective, independent quality assurance system that aligns with practices of higher education accreditation and international quality assurance. After undergoing a thorough review process—which included an evaluation of CAPA’s approach to academics, student support, DEI initiatives, and more—the Forum QUIP Review Committee issued a report with commentary and constructive feedback for CAPA to further improve global programming. In the report, the reviewers noted they were “particularly impressed by the organization’s academic design, student-centeredness, and COVID response.” Read more about the QUIP program and what this means for CAPA here.
The QAA, or Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, ensures that standards for the quality of UK higher education are met or exceeded, with the goal of improving the quality of education that students receive. While the QAA only reviews programs in the UK, the academic approach that CAPA takes in the UK is the same approach we take at all our program centers worldwide—a methodology which combines best practices from higher education systems in the UK and the US. Students can be certain of receiving the same quality of education with a curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular approach to teaching and learning no matter where they choose to study abroad with us.
In the QAA review, the agency highlighted CAPA’s areas of good practice, including “the approach to student academic and personal support, which is holistic in design and delivery, and valued by its recipients” and “the approach to assessment, which seamlessly integrates relevant aspects of US and UK approaches to higher education.”
We are honored to be recognized in our commitment to providing high quality academic programs and providing a safe and supportive environment for our students. Going forward, we aim to maintain this commitment, continue to innovate in the field, and work toward increasing access for underrepresented students in education abroad, as well as advancing practices that support diverse communities.
We would like to thank the Forum on Education Abroad, the QAA, our students, staff, partners, and colleagues for holding CAPA and the field to the highest quality standards for US students abroad.
