In collaboration with the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA), this FEA-CAPA scholarship opportunity will provide up to $5,000 for students in financial need.
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) as an Access Partner, on a new scholarship opportunity that will provide financial accessibility for underrepresented U.S. undergraduate students to participate in our study abroad programs. This partnership furthers CAPA's long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
This partnership includes CAPA’s membership to the FEA Access Advisory Board (AAB), established to share best practices in international education and actively engage in FEA’s mission of making life-changing, international experiences accessible to all by supporting minority and first-generation college students. For our organization's President, John Christian, CAPA’s shared commitment to diversity and inclusion in study abroad is long-standing and personal.
“CAPA’s partnership with FEA is built on a shared mission of creating access and equity in education abroad that has defined CAPA throughout its 45+ year history – one in which we continually strive to achieve through teaching diversity within our student communities and global cities, creating inclusive student support services, engaging in research in the field, and, in partnership with FEA, creating financial access through the provision of need-based scholarships to underrepresented students.”
In support of this mission, students in financial need participating in CAPA study abroad programs can receive up to $5,000 when they apply for the FEA-CAPA Access Scholarship. More information on applications and eligibility requirements can be found on FEA's website. The deadline for the 2018-2019 academic year is January 10, 2018.
About The Fund for Education Abroad
The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the opportunities for dedicated U.S. undergraduate students to participate in high-quality, rigorous education abroad programs by reducing financial restrictions through the provision of scholarships. Scholarships are awarded with a preference for underrepresented students in study abroad, including first-generation, community college, and minority students. FEA envisions a future in which any American student who dreams of studying abroad will be able to participate. We believe the value of education abroad is so great that no barrier – financial, curricular, or personal – should be insurmountable. We foresee a future in which our scholars work to increase global understanding, provide leadership to their communities, and mentor future generations of FEA scholars. In 2015, FEA received Diversity Abroad’s Excellence in Diversifying International Education Award (EDIE) and GoAbroad Foundation’s Innovation in Philanthropy Award.
