In the first installment of our Custom Program Blog Series, we share the history of CAPA custom programs and how they are compatible with academics, internships, and student experiences in our global cities locations abroad.
CAPA: The Global Education Network was founded as an organization dedicated to creating customized programs abroad for a wide range of US colleges and universities.
Since our founding 50 years ago, we have continued our commitment to developing flexible programs that meet the diverse needs of our partners and their students with strong student support and high academic standards at each of our study centers and through our partnerships with universities abroad.
Today, we partner with higher education institutions across the US and beyond to support dozens of custom programs each year in Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, London, and Sydney.
What is a Custom Program?
Custom programs at CAPA can take many forms—that is the nature of custom after all—but essentially, a custom program is a study abroad program that is based at one of our global cities centers and that is designed for a specific group of students from a US college or university.
CAPA works in partnership with faculty and study abroad staff at our US partner institutions to tailor program dates and inclusions to meet their students' and departments' academic, logistic, and financial needs. This means that a custom program supported by CAPA can be designed for just about any duration and any academic discipline. CAPA custom programs can include any number of inclusions such as internships, housing, excursions, professional site visits, guest lectures, and more, all while taking advantage of CAPA's health and safety support and impressive network of faculty and professionals within our global cities.
