Meet Aditi Sridhar (she/her), an official CAPA vlogger in London, England for Spring 2022:
University: University of Pittsburgh
Major: Film Studies (Production)
Study Abroad Location: London, England
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I am most excited to immerse myself into London’s culture more than just being a tourist but instead as a filmmaker, because I think this will offer plenty of new perspectives. I’m also extremely excited that all my classes will be film oriented and that we have access to such great equipment at the Derek Jarman Lab!
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
I’ve been choreographing and performing Bollywood dances since I was five years old, and now I run a nonprofit South Asian dance competition called Taaza that brings teams from around the nation to compete in Pittsburgh! As a huge foodie, I love cooking and exploring different restaurants, especially if they have Thai food.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
Though I’ve traveled a lot, I’ve never lived for an extended period of time outside of Pennsylvania, so I’m excited to take advantage of every opportunity to make the most out of my experience! I also hope to find a balance between making new friends, getting to immerse myself in the city, and keeping up with the CAPA London Film program.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve during your CAPA program?
I hope to develop my production skills so that I’m even more prepared for working in the industry post-graduation, specifically in camera and editing. I also hope to explore South Asian representation in British media in comparison to the US so that I can eventually include these concepts in my own work!
What can we look forward to seeing in your vlogs?
Plenty of restaurants, hidden gems of London, the music scenes, and the best ways of getting around the city! I also hope to include places to study, and general tips and tricks for studying abroad. I’ll definitely be honest in my experiences, showing both the good and how to overcome the bad!
Anything else you'd like to say to people reading/watching for the first time?
I’m not an expert vlogger by any means, but I’m excited to document my experiences and share it with you all! I’m hoping you find it helpful.
