Meet Andrew McKenzie, an official CAPA blogger in Barcelona, Spain for Spring 2021:
University: University of Minnesota
Study Abroad Location: Barcelona, Spain
Internship or volunteer placement: TBC
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I’m very excited to immerse myself in the Spanish culture. I look forward to trying new foods, drinks, and experiences, all while making lifelong friendships along the way.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
My biggest hobbies are sports and staying fit. I played high school hockey in Minnesota and enjoy working out routinely. I also love the outdoors and have been to a variety of US National parks. Lastly, I enjoy having fun and spending time with my buddies.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
One goal I have for myself is to become a wiser and more complete human being. I realize this is a broad goal, but hey… they call it study abroad for a reason.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I hope to obtain an internship that pushes me to become a more competitive job candidate for future positions. I’m looking forward to this experience and the challenges that await.
What can we look forward to seeing in your blogs?
You can look forward to a lot of humor and voice in my blogs. I’m sure there will be plenty of good stories and I can’t wait to get started.
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading about you for the first time?
All I have left to say to the folks back home is an echo of Snoop Dogg’s intro to California Gurls: "Greetings, loved ones. Let’s take a journey."
