Meet Emmey Harris (she/her), an official CAPA blogger in Dublin, Ireland for Summer 2022:
University: University of Minnesota
Major: History
Study Abroad Location: Dublin, Ireland
Internship placement: Marsh’s Library
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I’m excited to explore Ireland, both past and present. As a history major, I can’t wait to tour the countless historic sites and museums in and around Dublin. I’m also really looking forward to experiencing modern Irish culture through my internship and life in a dynamic global city.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
I love to read books and watch movies and shows related to history. Another hobby of mine is listening to music, including Irish folk music. I’m also really interested in learning about different cultures and languages.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I hope to become more independent and confident through living, studying, and interning abroad. While abroad, I know I will learn a great deal about Irish culture, but being in a new environment will also give me the opportunity to learn more about myself and my own capabilities.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I’m very excited about my internship at Marsh’s Library and the chance to work in a museum setting. My internship will allow me to learn about the operation of a historic institution and gain experience relevant to my major and career goals.
What can we look forward to seeing in your blogs?
In my posts, you can expect to see my recommendations for what to see and do while in Dublin. I will also be sure to discuss my experience interning abroad and advice I would give to readers considering a CAPA study abroad program.
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading about you for the first time?
I’m super excited to embark on my journey to Dublin and document my experience here on the blog! I hope to give readers a glimpse of what it’s like to study and intern in Ireland and to be a helpful resource to other students.
