Meet Peyton Smith, an official CAPA TikToker in Dublin, Ireland for Summer 2022:
University: D’Youville University
Major: Occupational Therapy
Study Abroad Location: Dublin, Ireland
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
During my semester in Dublin, I am most excited to experience a different way of life. I will be able to try new foods, experience the ability to walk everywhere, and enjoy customs that I have not experienced.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
In my personal life, I really enjoy music. I sing and play ukulele, and I love going to see live music performances. I also love the outdoors, and I enjoy spending time going for walks, runs, and bike rides. One of my interests at school is Student Government, and I love having the opportunity to work with my peers and administrators every day.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
One personal goal I hope to accomplish during my CAPA program would be meeting new people. I am coming to Dublin with one of my best friends, but I would really like to push myself out of my comfort zone and engage with other students in the program, and just people in general.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve during your CAPA program?
I hope to achieve some networking opportunities. In terms of living abroad, it is something I could see myself doing post-grad. Because of this, I want to research and learn about how my career could look in Ireland.
What can we look forward to seeing in your vlogs?
I plan to create posts that focus on the everyday life of a student who is studying abroad. From spending time with friends, to trying new foods, and experiencing different landmarks, I want to be able to provide a travel guide for students who are thinking about or planning on going abroad.
Anything else you'd like to say to people watching for the first time?
I am so excited to be able to document my trip in Dublin. Not only is this an amazing opportunity for me to gain experience with social media, and make content for CAPA, but I will also be able to look back on this content in the future and be able to reminisce on my time studying abroad.
