Meet Savanna Nolau, an official CAPA London Remote Blogger/Vlogger for Spring 2021:
University: Suffolk University
Major: International Relations
Study Abroad Location: London, England
Internship or volunteer placement: TBC
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
This semester I am most excited to work with new people, to learn new skills and to create meaningful change. Although I will not be in London, I will be working for a London-based office and making new friends across the pond. This experience will test my capability to connect with others, and it is a challenge I am ready for!
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
This past year I started spending a lot more time outside. I have always enjoyed swimming and skiing, but in March I realized I love to hike, bike and spend as much time under the sun as possible. This semester I am fortunate enough to be in Los Angeles, where I will be taking full advantage of the good weather and spending every sunny second in sand, grass, or water.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve during your CAPA program?
My personal goal is to narrow down my career interests. When I was younger I used to tell people, “I want to change the world when I grow.” And while that still rings true, I need to figure out my path to change.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve during your CAPA program?
My professional goal this semester is to make new connections. Although I will not physically be in the office, I will still be working with new people and I hope my addition to their team will result in positive work relationships that can help me in the future.
What can we look forward to seeing in your blogs?
Because I will be in a new city, my posts are going to feature my Los Angeles adventures. I also want to have some cultural nights with my roommates where we take online tours of famous British sites. To tie everything together, my posts will also talk about the benefits of online work. I would not be able to be in Los Angeles given other circumstances, but now I am able to work for a company in London and make progress toward a degree from a school in Boston all the while living in California.
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading about you for the first time?
I am really excited to document my semester on behalf of CAPA!
