Stephen Dwyer Blogger Profile PicMeet Stephen Dwyer (he/him), an official CAPA blogger in Barcelona, Spain for Spring 2022:

University: University of Massachusetts-Amherst
Major: Operations & Information Management and Sport Management (double major)
Study Abroad Location: Barcelona, Spain
Internship or volunteer placement: TBC

What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
Having never been to Europe, I’m most excited to go to a brand new place and explore and immerse myself in the culture. Barcelona has so much to offer, from the beaches to the history to, of course, the food.

What are three of your hobbies and interests?
First, as a sports management major, sports hold a special place in my heart, and none are dearer to me than basketball, both playing and watching (I’ll have to work my schedule around catching Celtics games live). I like to read and go outside, and I also love music.

What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
One goal I am setting for myself is to feel like I’ve become a member of the Barcelona community. I want to make friends from different places and overall, grow as a human being.

What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve during your CAPA program?
My professional goal during my CAPA program is to stretch my skills and become a more confident and competent professional. I don’t have much professional experience, so I’m excited to expand my network and be a sponge around people who want to see me succeed.

What can we look forward to seeing in your blogs?
I’ll be doing my best to provide insight on what it’s like to live, study, and work in Barcelona from my own perspective, and hopefully you’ll be able to watch it broaden as I go through the journey. Expect tips on time management, commuting/weekend travel, eating out on a budget, and much more.

Anything else you’d like to say to people reading about you for the first time?
Wishing you well in all your travels, and I hope what I learn from mine will help you out!
