Ellie LaFountainMeet Ellie LaFountain, an official CAPA blogger in Dublin for Fall 2019:

University: Ursinus College
Major: Media and Communications with a Psychology minor
Study Abroad Location: Dublin, Ireland
Internship or volunteer placement: TBC

What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
Over the years I have heard many people speak so highly of their experiences abroad, so I am so excited to finally be able to make some memories of my own. I am excited for the change in pace, scenery, and overall “college” lifestyle that studying abroad will provide to me.

What are three of your hobbies and interests?
As a collegiate gymnast, I take my health and wellness very seriously. I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years and always loved being active. I enjoy running, taking different exercise classes, and hiking! I am so excited for all the active adventuring I will be able to do this fall. In addition to wellness, I also enjoy photography, trying new foods, and exploring different cities.

What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
One goal I have while studying abroad is to become more comfortable and confident in new and different situations on my own. I believe that studying abroad will be like nothing that I have ever done before, and I would love to leave the program feeling as though I have learned not only about different cultures but about myself as well.

What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
Through my internship and classes, I hope to obtain a better understanding of what a career in media and communications can look like. I also hope to create some career connections as I know that networking is key.

What can we look forward to reading in your posts?
Get ready to hear the truth about my study abroad experience. I am an open book and will be sure to fill you all in on the good and the (hopefully few) not so good times in my semester. I will be sure to share what works/worked for me in my time in Dublin, in hopes to help the reader feel more confident in their future journeys. I will be sure to keep you updated on my fitness and food journey as well!!

Anything else you’d like to say to people reading for the first time?
Thank you all for the support and following me along in this journey! I am so excited to be able to share my story and memories with CAPA and their followers. I am sure I will be looking back at these posts and memories for a long, long time!
