Major: Art History
Study abroad location: Florence, Italy
Internship or volunteer placement: N/A
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I am most excited about being able to see some of the greatest artist's work with my own eyes. It's been my dream and is the number one reason I signed up for this program.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
As an art major I am interested in painting mainly Renaissance work, and my hobbies include watching movies, seeing opera, concerts, and musicals.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I am planning to minor on Italian, through this trip I am hoping to achieve better skills and insight into the language.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I am hoping to go around to as many art museums as possible and study how works are located/organised.
What can we look forward to reading about in your posts?
I am planning to introduce you all to art museums and master painters in Florence, and write about their history. Some might think art history is boring but once you read my posts you will instantly fall in love with it and crave more! Look forward to reading about interesting backstories and the meaning in famous works!
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading for the first time?
"Art owes its origin to Nature herself... this beautiful creation, the world, supplied the first model, while the original teacher was that divine intelligence which has not only made us superior to the other animals, but like God Himself, if I may venture to say it." - Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574)
