What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I am most excited to experience the city of London and the greater UK. I plan to balance exploration of museums and historical sites with the current arts scene. I can’t wait to stroll down unfamiliar streets, soak in all the breathtaking sights, and immerse myself in a different culture.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
When I’m not reading or writing, I’m listening to music or strumming on my guitar or ukulele. I also enjoy drawing and painting, especially in my bullet journal. Another fun fact about me: I photosynthesize, which means I can usually be found outside basking in the sunlight and caring for my herbs.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I hope to build more confidence and open myself to the joys of spontaneity, choosing to follow whims and live in the moment more often.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
While abroad, I will be working to improve my communication and marketing skills. I also intend to be a better literary citizen, which includes attending more readings, reviewing more pieces, interacting with authors, and establishing a regular time to write. I can’t wait to draw upon the magic and inspiration of London!
What can we look forward to reading in your posts?
This summer, I plan to write about local life in London, hidden gems in the city that aren’t always advertised in travel books. As a book-lover, I’ll also be paying homage to literary sites (like Shakespeare’s Globe and various Harry Potter hot spots) and attending local readings, workshops, and festivals. I’m also planning a weekend in Scotland, so if you’re curious about visiting one of England’s neighboring countries, stay tuned!
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading for the first time?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll enjoy following along with my adventures in London this summer.
