Meet Cory Clemente, an official CAPA vlogger in Sydney, Australia for Fall 2019:
University: University of Pittsburgh
Study Abroad Location: Sydney, Australia
Internship or volunteer placement: TBC
What are you most excited for during your study abroad semester?
I am most excited to further develop my education in a new, unfamiliar setting. I’m looking forward to getting to experience Australia and immersing myself in Australian culture.
What are three of your hobbies and interests?
Travel is something I have developed a passion for and am constantly trying to look for new opportunities to explore new areas. In my spare time I enjoy rock climbing as well as attending as many concerts as I can.
What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I want to experience living in a new country while getting to know the people, the culture, and the sights. This is going to be my longest time outside of the United States and am hoping to broaden my view of the world.
What’s one professional goal you hope to achieve while abroad?
I will have the opportunity to advance my degree while taking courses and an internship relevant to my academic and work interests. I am looking forward to being able to compare this work and education experience to what I am familiar with in the United States and seeing how they differ.
What can we look forward to seeing in your videos?
My goal is to give a realistic view of what it is like to study abroad by showing aspects of daily life that may not always come to mind. I want to take viewers along with me on my experiences and give my own perspective of Sydney.
Anything else you’d like to say to people reading for the first time?
With this being my third study abroad trip, I want to show people the opportunities available to you and what you can take away from these life changing experiences. It’s important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and see different parts of the world and the benefits that come with it.
