In this week's post, Kelly brings her best friend from the US around her neighborhood in Camden and takes in some of the deliciousness that Camden Market has to offer.
While studying abroad, I have had the pleasure of enjoying a visit from one of my best friends, who also happens to be my number one travel buddy. She had been to London before coming to visit me but hadn’t been to the area I was living in. Camden is arguably one of the best places in London, so she was in for a treat. I am a tad biased considering I’ve lived here for almost four months, but there’s nothing to not love in Camden.
Me and my best friend who came to visit me in London.
When my friend arrived, the first thing I did was take her to the Camden Market. With endless food options including Crosstown Doughnuts, Buzzfeed’s named #1 UK dessert to try before you die, and countless shops that you never know what you’ll find in, she was sure to have an incredible experience. We had stellar grilled cheeses for lunch. Then we wandered in and out of the shops. She bought a couple of rings, and I had to restrain myself because I’ve bought too many things from there already.

After the market, I took her to Peggy Porchen Cakes, a chic bakery with coffee, cakes, champagne, and other tasty baked goods. Both of us love discovering new, trendy coffee shops, so I thought this was the perfect place to take her. Also, the entire place is covered in pink, and pink is my friend’s favorite color. This place was very much up her alley. We both got coffee and cupcakes for an exquisite dessert.

Seeing as my friend and I planned a couple more trips during her visit to places outside of the U.K., I was limited on time. I was only able to show her the best of Camden, for the most part, which ended with necessary stops at The Camden Eye and Chicken King of Camden. This pub and fast food place are must-tries in Camden. The Camden Eye has the friendliest workers and some pretty dang good pizza. Chicken King is my personal favorite for their potato wedges. They. Are. Golden (physically and in the sense of perfection).

It was really exciting to show my friend around the area I live in. She was ecstatic to hear about everything I’ve learned. I love sharing my passion about London, and Camden specifically, with anyone who will listen. I will absolutely continue to do so, probably until the end of time.
Kelly's journey continues on so stay tuned.
