COLBY CANNON: Hello! My name is Colby Cannon and I studied abroad spring semester of my junior year in Florence, Italy. I am originally from the Bay Area, California but I go to school at CU Boulder in Colorado. I am currently studying Marketing in the Business School and I’m going into my senior year this upcoming fall. Meet Taisia Smith, an alumna from George mason University who majored in Legal and International Studies with a concentration in African American Studies, who studied abroad in Florence in spring 2017. TAISIA SMITH: Hello! My name is Taisia Smith. I am a 22 years old and I attended George Mason University. I studied abroad in Florence, Italy during the spring semester of 2017 which so happened to be my last semester in undergrad! Yes, that’s right, I am now Mason Alum! I graduated with a BA in Legal Studies and International Studies with a concentration in African American Studies. I have many different interests and hobbies but I spend most of my free time writing, reading or netflixing. I love being outside so I find myself finding a nice spot and relaxing because life is stressful and breaks are most certainly needed.

DANA PEREZ: I was born in New York, but moved to Florida when I was three. I moved back to New York when I was eight and have been living there ever since. I have two sisters. My parents immigrated to the United States from Israel about 27 years ago. I'm a senior at Binghamton University with a major in human development.

EDUARDO PABLO RAMOS: Hello! My name is Eduardo Pablo Ramos. I am an incoming junior pursuing a double degree in strategic communication and political science at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. I was born and raised in a small North Central Washington town called Wenatchee (pronounced: weh-nah-chee). My parents and family members are all agricultural workers. Growing up, it would have been inconceivable to think that I would spend three months in Florence. My family’s resources have always been scarce, but our determination grand.

I have long been involved in politics and empowering my community. Early on, I committed myself to breaking cycles of poverty and providing equitable opportunity to all of our residents. Throughout my life, I have been blessed with people who have believed in my capabilities.
