Beyond the Campus - Student Life in the Global City of Barcelona

Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is truly an urban campus, clustered in three main areas of Barcelona: Ciutadella, Poblenou, and Mar. The majority of CAPA students will study on the Ciutadella campus, so this blog will focus on the neighborhood where it this campus is located and the walkable areas nearby. This is called Barri Gòtic (or the Gothic Quarter), which is within the larger Ciutat Vella (old town) district. UPF is very well connected to the rest of the city, located near the neighborhoods of El Raval, with its art galleries and famous La Boqueria market, Poble Sec’s old-school playhouses and charming cafes, and La Barceloneta, which is lined with sandy beaches.

Beyond the Campus - Get to Know the Ultimo Neighborhood

It sits at the crossroads of the Ultimo, Haymarket, and Chippendale neighborhoods, within a growing education, innovation, and creative hub at the southern edge of the Central Business District. Beyond the Campus - Get to Know the Town of Maynooth, Ireland

Maynooth University is in the market town of Maynooth, in County Kildare, Ireland. It’s home to 12,500 residents year-round, which swells to a temporary 20,000 during the academic year when students arrive. It’s about 15 miles west of central Dublin, which is easily accessible by train. The town is inviting, peaceful yet bubbling with life, and full of restaurants ranked highly by locals.

Beyond Queen Mary University - Get to Know Mile End

Campus Life: Barcelona IS Your Campus at UPF!

When you study abroad on the CAPA Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) direct enroll program, you’ll hear many different languages spoken on campus. It’s a trilingual university (Catalan, Spanish, and English), and welcomes 9,000 students each year, about 1,500 of them international, so as one may assume, there will be an exciting mix of cultural backgrounds and opportunities to make friends from around the world. UPF is an authentically urban campus, with classes in three areas of the city: Ciutadella (Social Sciences and Humanities), Poblenou (ITC and Communication Sciences), and Mar (Health and Life Sciences). You’ll get to know Barcelona quickly and intimately as you navigate your way to your classes and beyond.

Campus Life: Living Down Unda' at UTS in Sydney

Campus Life: Experience Ireland's Only College Town at Maynooth

There is only one university town in Ireland. You guessed it: it’s Maynooth! And Maynooth University was also voted the friendliest college (in a country that’s already well-known for its kindness), so you’re sure to receive a warm welcome here. The town itself is small, which makes it easy to connect with locals, and 90% of students are Irish, so you’ll be able to learn about and experience Irish culture all around you. The other 10% of students represent 90 different countries, so there’s also a wonderful mix of diverse backgrounds on campus.
